Fiat Abarth 500 595 Remapping

Lets just start off by saying, what a cracking little cars the Abarth’s are. Both the 500 & 595.

The 1.4 T-Jet engine or 1368cc to be exact, comes in various HP & Torque outputs, which can be an advantage for some owners. Why? i hear you ask. Let’s try and explain.

These days many manufactures, Fiat & Abarth included produce the same engine and hardware package across a range of model variants. Some examples of this……

  • Abarth 1.4 T-Jet 135HP
  • Abarth 1.4 T-Jet 140HP
  • Abarth 1.4 T-Jet 145HP
  • Abarth 1.4 T-Jet 160HP – Fitted to the models – ESSE ESSE | TURISMO | PISTA

All these engines use the same hardware, the only difference? Software! What does ths mean? In short, it means that we can achieve huge gains from the lower HP variants of this range of engine.

So what model Abarth 500 595 can we remap? All of them! See below.

  • Abarth 595 ESSE ESSE 1.4 T-Jet
  • Abarth 595 TURISMO 1.4 T-Jet
  • Abarth 595  PISTA 1.4 T-Jet
  • Abarth 595 COMPETIZIONE 1.4 T-Jet
  • Abarth 595 BIPOSTO / RIVALE 1.4 T-Jet

Search your Abarth 500 595 in our stats widget to see the performance gains.

We can also map onto the SPORTS Button only, so you can have the car standard in normal mode, then once the sport button is pressed, Full power!

What is the process of Remapping & Tuning your Abarth 500 / 595? Let’s Discuss.

First of all, the most important aspect to any tuning is the pre map health check, on the Abarth 500 / 595 this includes the following.

  • Visual inspection of the engine, fluid level checks.
  • Full global scan of the car to check for any unknown issues or fault codes stored.
  • Pre Map Data logging, we data log in standard mode & sports mode, What do we data log? Engine speed, boost pressures, misfire counters, timing advance and turbo control, to name just a few.
  • Reading of the ECU, Some we read VIA OBD some we take a full bench read VIA pinout on the ECU.
  • Modifying the map data.
  • Rewriting the modified software to the ECU.
  • Post Map Data logging
  • Last but not at least – Customer Road Test!

As you can see it is comprehensive service we provide here at West Wales Tuning, giving you confidence that your pride and joy is being looked after.

We often get asked…. Why do you need to to all that work? Many customers believe it is a simple plug and play job, from their previous experiences with companies they have used.

One prime example of why data logging is soo important to ensure the car is health pre/post MAP. See below some images of the boost logs & turbo control / duty cycle.

Orange line = Requested boost

Blue line = Actual boost

As you can see, there is a big underboost, the lines should be following each other, from the table you can also see that the duty cycle is maxed out at over 95% the ECU is tying it’s best to make boost.

Why is it underboosting and not making boost? In short, There is a hardware issue on the engine somewhere, these run a fairly simple wastegate turbo and control system so after some basic checks we found the issue.

Just another reason why our service is so comprehensive.
